Walking on the Isle of Arran
Today our club sailed from Ardrossan to Brodick. We walked up to Clauchland Point, a thousand feet above sea level, and a terrific pathway. From there we walked over the Clauchland Hills and through the Fairy 'Glen back to Brodick. It was a fabulous walk, with great views over to the Holy Isle, just off the coast of Arran and views also of Brodick Bay in the distance with a rather misty view of Goatfell, although we couldn't see the summit at all. We had two young American visitors with us, friends of members, and they were very impressed with the beauty of the island. We told them it was a pity we had no sun, but they said it was great to see the misty isle, very atmospheric to them.
Back at the coach after our walk, we changed our boots etc. and then were taken up to Corrie where we had hired the local village hall. We were having our yearly barbecue, and the hall was in case of inclement weather. We were lucky and the weather was fine for us, but the hall was great and we had a sing song before heading back to catch the last ferry for the journey home. The HG and I sat on the seats at the stern of the ferry on a beautiful evening light, and watched Arran disappear into the mist.
My blip shows Holy Isle, and some of the beautiful heather covered Clauchland Hills, with a few other shots, including one of Brodick Castle from the ferry.
We were lucky to have little rain, although the views we had were all very 'atmospheric' with the mist around.
Fab day!!!!
Thanks so much for putting this on the Popular pages......
