'Will She Guess What I'm Up To?'
Your friend and mine - Basil. Free at last to run and romp on the Nanpantan sports pitches.
Although it was raining quite heavily when we came to this morning, it cleared between 10 - 11am and there were even glimpses of sun towards late afternoon.
Len went down to meet Andy at the cricket to check the state of the pitch. Between them, they sponged the pitch dry, which took a little while. Since the 2nd team's pitch was waterlogged, they didn't play, and the third team actually ended up with eleven players, including George and Alex who were recovering from a hard night clubbing at Mosh in Leicester.
I confess to dropping off in the comfy chair in the conservatory in the afternoon, which meant that I didn't reach the ground until just before 6 pm. Len was leaning against a rail, padded up, waiting his turn to bat as Last Man. Batsman #9 quit the wicket as I arrived and Len made the slow walk to the middle. The ball was bowled, and Alex, his partner, skyed it straight to one of the opposing team. Thus Len was out before even hitting a ball.
None of this made any difference to Basil who recognises a wide open space for running when he sees one. He's showing his teeth which I think always gives him a slightly crazed and mischievous look.
A very pleasant evening at the Cricket Club Social at the Brush Bowls Club in the evening. Len joined in the indoor bowls. I was extremely grateful to the ladies managing the barbecue who had procured me delicious gluten free sausages and gluten free rolls.
