Carnegie Library
2,509 public libraries were built in various parts of the world funded by Scottish-American businessman and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. This is one of those, opened in Castleton, Greater Manchester in 1905 at a cost of £2500. This shot of its door commemorates that.
The library closed in 2007 when the library service was co-located with a community centre in a nearby building. The building, on a very narrow, triangular site now awaits a suitable new use.
