National Garden Scheme - Fordham Abbey

This afternoon we went off to Fordham to visit Fordham Abbey - the new Japanese owners have started a project to restore the gardens and opened them today as part of the National Gardens Scheme. 

We had a pleasant afternoon fuelled with tea and cake... The best part for me was the imaginative wild flower garden. The wild flowers had been seeded in a meandering stream in one of the old orchards, the effect was quite striking but difficult to photograph effectively. Needed a step ladder but had left it in the car!
