Creation Twirlers
Before I report on the weekend's competition results I was very remiss not sharing some exciting news yesterday. Which was, eldest son Matthew and long term partner Stephanie got engaged on Friday evening, woohoo. They make a lovely couple and have just moved into their first house. We're so happy and very proud of them.
Anyway, daughter Danielle and Creation Twirlers team-mates have been performing at the Majorettes National Finals this weekend. It was more solo, duet and team events today followed by the results. Ah, there was the parents fun routine as well but more of that shortly.
The team did brilliantly well with one 3rd, three 2nds and four National Champions Awards. Danielle was crowned National Champion in her accessories solo routine (blipped yesterday) and the so-called Fancy Strut and, with partner Casey, they became National Champions in the duet category (see today's extra), One of our other duets also came 1st and another two duets finished 2nd. The 1st placed teams and the solo and duet routines in the top three will all represent England at the European Finals in London in October. Fantastic results and well deserved given all the hours and hours of practice they put in. I know because Mrs K runs the troupe(!).
The blip is of the whole troupe having also won the High Point Shield having gained the most points in all competitions throughout the year. Matt, the very talented choreographer of virtually every routine is in the centre with tutu attired coaches left and right. Mrs K is third from the right standing. She's a little shy when it comes to photos - especially when wearing a tutu :)
Now I must not forget to mention the parents fun routine since me and two other dads were roped in by some of the other parents to join them for a take on Come Follow The Band from the musical Barnum, featuring a mobility scooter, hoops, a whip, stocks, a cream pie and, of course, a brass band (well, drum, cymbals and trombone at least). See other extra if you must and, yes, that's me on trombone. Not only did we have a great laugh but we beat three other teams and were confirmed as National Champions of the Majorette's Parents Fun Routine, a prestigious award you know.
I hear too that Andy Murray won at Wimbledon and Lewis Hamilton took the Grand Prix.
What a fab weekend.
