Laundress Green, by the mill pond.

Laundress Green is an area opposite Darwin College, Cambridge, enclosed by the river and the old mill race. College washerwomen would wash their laundry in the river and lay it out to dry on the green. These days it is used by people fishing, or having a picnic or just sitting in the lovely surroundings. As it is also a grazing ground for cows, you need to be careful where you choose to sit !!
