Sunday Afternoon

I put the final touches on another small painting before D was out of bed this morning. We decided after lunch that we'd head off for a drive in the pickup truck. The sky had cleared although there were thunderheads around the valley. We drove up past Paul Lake to Pinatan Lake. We took several sideroads where I got some photos of fireweed. A dead stump housed a small family of chipmunks who seemed as interested in us as we were in them. A solitary fritillary butterfly happened by at the same time. On the drive back to the city I stopped for a quick shot of the old ranch property. We enjoyed a barbeque with old friends this evening. What a great day!
