Aire Valley loop.
A different walk today from Apperley Bridge along the River Aire to Calverley foot bridge and back along the Leeds/Liverpool canal.
A relatively easy route of five miles but the riverside was very muddy and quite overgrown with Himalayan Balsam, nettles and brambles. I had thought of adding to my River Aire series of blips as I haven't walked this stretch before but I think more of the river would be seen in Spring.
The walk was a recce for a possible memorial walk for Joe, who always walked with us on Monday and with the Sunday walking group. The idea being to find a family friendly walk for everyone to join in. For this reason Chris came with us but I'm not sure this will be the one. Hopefully I might be able to,persuade him to join us on other walks in future.
I chose this shot along the canal as the wild flowers looked so pretty. You can see they have grown there as the turf has been recently disturbed.
As is becoming usual we had post walk refreshments at the Stansfield Arms. Very nice.

Thank you Corinthian Column and Mr CC for organising and driving.
( PS the peacock came back yesterday and gave us a little tail display on next doors lawn - extra - he was here again this morning but fortunately didn't wake us. He was gone when we got back from the walk)
