A 'Wacky' Sign ?

A very wet day with few bright periods.   This sign is set in the wall at Colden (above Hebden Bridge) along the road leading to "May's" well known shop.  Although it clearly says "Crack Hill" I know the road as "Edge Lane".    I just wondered if it might have some special meaning for some of the residents in HB?   :-) :-)
