Wolfeton House

Finally got round today to visiting this fine Elizabethan house on the edge of Dorchester. It's belonged to the same family for centuries but the clearly the family's fortune has dwindled, so none of the splendid ornamental gardens and shops and tea rooms, just a friendly, jovial 'lord of the manor' host and a step back in time. But the family have kept the building and contents in good shape - the rooms contain lovingly looked-after furnishings and splendid doorways and fireplaces with fine 16th century wood carvings.
