Fairfield horeshoe
Today I went on a lovely walk/run. Well, it was almost all walking up and a quarter walking down, but I'm still counting it as a running attempt! I went around the Fairfield horseshoe, a beautiful walk around a ridge and back down, starting and ending in Ambleside. It supposedly included 8 Wainwrights, 9 Birketts, 6 Nuttalls, 4 Hewitts, and 1 Marilyn - all that naming seems a bit pointless to me but it was nice to get some Wainwrights in (which are much easier than munros to bag...). The whole ascent was a bit under 1000m so not too bad!
It was really lovely travelling light and fast - I had a small backpack with just water, food, and a hat and gloves inside. The running was really fun!! Although I definitely need to get better at going down steep rock (I just ended up walking and slowly scrambling) and how not to twist your ankle as much. I suppose it'll all just take practice :)
I really enjoyed the visibility too - Scotland hasn't given me any good views for a while!
