In search of foxgloves...

A long day of botanising around Sleaford. I'd been alerted of the presence of a thriving population of Straw Foxglove on the A15 just south of Sleaford, which would be new county record, so I went off to verify it (see extra). The constant strong wind made photographing it rather challenging!

I then headed further north and recorded two villages in a very under-recorded part of the vice-county, both of which proved more interesting than  I expected. After roughly eight kilometres of tramping streets and footpaths I'd made over 500 records of 313 different species - quite good going! 

As I was wandering along one of the becks that are a feature of the fen edge villages, I spotted this common darter dragonfly, the first I've seen this summer. It obligingly stayed put as I approached it with the 60mm lens, just moving its head from side to side to get a better view of me!
