Out of the blue!

This Amaryllis came from Chris's mother's home when she died over 6 years ago.

It has resided in our green house in all that time doing nothing except staying alive. Suddenly it has come into bloom and I thought I better blip it now whilst it is at its best, although it does have another bud to open.

I love the way the stamen here seem to be just floating detached from the flower.

We tend to think of these as Christmas/early Spring flowering but my neighbour has several flowering at the moment in her conservatory too.
