A taste of summer
Today, the sun shone all day - quite incredible! The warmth brought out the burnet moths in numbers to forage on the wild thyme and ragwort on the Sands of Forvie. Six-spot burnets Zygaena filipendulae are day flying moths; the six red spots on each of the moths greenish-black fore-wings are a warning to predators that the moth is distasteful, and perhaps poisonous.
I'm so enthused by this unexpected outbreak of summer that I have back-blipped another summery scene, involving a field of cloth, taken on our recent hols.
