Popeye village

Set off in the car this morning not entirely knowing where we were heading and saw a sign for Popeye Village. We both vaguely remembered seeing this village from a boat almost 34 years ago when we came to Malta for our honeymoon so we decided to go and check it out. It was built for the set of the film many years ago and now acts as a tourist attraction with all of the old buildings, and staff dressed as characters from the film. There was also a lovely little beach there so we took advantage and went snorkelling. We were amazed to see sea cucumbers there - we thought they only existed in the tropics! Also saw a sea snake - but we kept clear of him.
Then drove to Mosta to visit the church with the massive dome. During the war a bomb dropped through the dome during a service. Did not explode and didn't hurt anyone - God is good!
It's been a lovely day - very hot - reached 36 degrees for quite a bit of the day.
