Dover Castle
Turned out nice again today! Sunny and hot although some interesting skies at times. We have been 'tourists' visiting several places in the area starting with Richborough Castle - an old Roman fort which was a huge garrison in its time and must have been impregnable (shown in the extra). We then stopped off at The White Cliffs which gave spectacular views of the port with ferries going in and out. Last visit was to Dover Castle - built originally in the early 1100s and used as a defence base until the 1950s. It is huge and would need a second visit to do it justice as we didn't get to the WW2 tunnels at all - just no energy left!
We dropped in some of John's relations for a restorative cup of tea and will shortly be going out for a meal with his nephew and partner. Another busy day ahead tomorrow
