Kirkstall Abbey

As is often the norm on Saturday mornings we were at M&S early on and back home again just after 9am, it was quite chilly and at that point I didn't think we'd be wanting to go far, but straight after lunch the sun came out.  Jack opted for sitting in the garden and I went off to Kirkstall Abbey where I took the opportunity to stroll along the river and enjoy the beautiful afternoon.

The abbey is a ruined Cistercian monastery, now set in a public park on the north bank of the River Aire.  It was founded in 1152 and was disestablished  under Henry VIII;  both shots are taken in the nave  -  one view from the east and the other from the west.
