Six-Spot Burnet Moth

Six-Spot Burnet - Zygaena filipendulae

I revisited the site where  these moths have made around 15 cocoons and none of them have hatched.  However, I found two adults on nearby flowers.  This is one of them.

For the first day of the 'Big Butterfly Count' I also recorded 3 common blues, 3 ringlets and 7 meadow browns at the same site.  I will return.

My 'extra' for today is specially for Ristosan who doesn't get to see more than a handful of oystercatchers at any one time.  Here are 20 from a small flock at the same location as the butterflies.
