Jellybean und dann...

We did not seem to be able to wean Mia of the bottles but rather increasing the amount we were giving her. So I saw a lactation specialist who told me that we would have never needed to start Mia on bottles. The problem is that my milk flow is too fast, so Mia needs to somehow stop the flow, does lots of breaks and takes so long. She advised me to lean back when feeding to slow down the flow. She also said it does not matter how long it takes. Apparently it's old research that babies spend too much energy when they feed for longer. That's what they told me at the nursery and at the breastfeeding clinic. So I was all happy and tried breastfeeding only again. But she still takes hours, so I get pretty sore and don't get anything else done. When I spoke to the lactation consultant again, she said it's probably an immaturity that she takes so long and it's fine to give her bottles to give me a break. After all, she gets some breastmilk.
