Ascent of Piz Uter

Making the most of the start of the summer holidays and a great forecast, I set off from home on foot to climb Piz Uter, a mountain I have often admired and photographed (see extra). It sits set back from a cirque of peaks on the opposite side of the valley from our apartment. There was still much of the recent snow lying around which made for cold temperatures and an interesting ascent. Baby marmots, a deer and a chamois greeted me en route, but not a sole did I see until I returned to the alpine farmhouse which tends to the many cows up there. A very special day!
