Happy Policing

I spotted this happy moment in Trafalgar Square at lunchtime. The tourist was from China I think. The policman sharing his helmet for the photograph was from the Northampton police force.

Like the actual tourist he and his colleagues are from out of London here for the Olympics. He is at the end of a 7 day shift before heading home for a break and then back for the closing ceremony. Chatting to him after I caught this Blip moment he told me that it was part of the Olympic policing plan to place out of town police officers in tourist locations as they would have empathy with the out of town tourists they are helping to protect.

It seems to be working.....
