Old Trafford
My younger two boys won olympic football tickets in a school raffle and today was the day when we got to use them. Graham's away for a week so I took them....I have to say that the transport links were perfect, no hassle at all using the train and then the tram. The boys were quite excited about going on the tram.
We were searched before being allowed into the football ground...all items from pockets/my bag had to be put into see-through bags and then we were frisked too. I'm glad we went early! I bought us all a drink and a tube of Pringles for the boys (Rowan lost a tooth whilst crunching these).....this came to just short of £10! The bartender took the caps off the drinks. Jed asked why did he do that? The bartender replied that it was so people didn't throw the bottle caps. Jed replied that they could just throw the bottle when they'd finished with it. (Perfect logic from a 9 year old!). Not that MY boys would, of course, no they just put the drinks under their chairs, stood up and then the seat knocked over the bottles spilling out that costly pop! Rowan also fell off the chair and bumped his head! They managed to rescue some of the pop though so all was not lost!
Anyhoo...we got to see the Women's football match between the USA & Korea. The USA won 1-0. I have to say that they dominated the match...maybe the fact that not many Koreans have the height of the Americans went against them. It was fun though with the crowd making Mexican Waves and being happy. A real experience for the boys and they can say they went to an olympic event when they're older. (Me too).
