Blue Scapa Flow
I don’t think I will ever see Scapa Flow so flat and so blue. This was at 08.35 this morning as I walked around to Swanbister. I carried on past Swanbister Farm and up to the village. I met Maria out for a walk and stopped and chatted with her. I continued along the road to Houton then turned and walked up the peat track up past the Scout Hut. On top of Ward Hill, and Mid Hill there wasn’t a breath of wind - and such heat. Another walker was up there - a man fae Sandwick so we ate our pieces and spoke about Ben Macdui, Morven, Stromness Shopping week - oh and the weather. We discussed the absolutely stunning views as we could easily see Gairsay, Rousay, Westray and Stronsay. We could also see Ben Loyal, 58 miles away in Sutherland.
He said cheerio as he was away to walk across to Keely Lang and then on to Wideford Hill - this is the Orkney ‘Three Peaks’ walk.
I made my way home and CMC and her pal Anne (fae Forres) have gone to walk along the coast at Yesnaby.
If I know what’s good for me I’ll now go and cut the grass. Oh and make the tea.
