Harvest getting underway in Linton
I spent some time morning watching this amazing Combine Harvester bringing in barley. The chap operating it told me that it is guided by SatNav and a computer to make sure that the field is cut in the most economic way. The computer records the amount harvested from every part of the field so that the farmer can use the correct amount of fertiliser to ensure the maximum yield.
The cost of this machine is eye-watering, about £300k apparently.
I spent a happy couple of hours watching and trying to get good camera angles using a 400mm telephoto for compression and managed to get these three photos...
It was very hot and very dusty!
