Sty Head

A glorious day for Keith's Joss Naylor Traverse of the high Lakeland Fells from Pooley Bridge on the banks of Ullswater to Greendale Bridge in the Wasdale Valley. A familiar view to many looking down from the Stretcher Box at Sty Head to the Tarn of the same name.  The first extra is of the man himself digging into rice pudding and a cup of tea amongst other goodies, having completed 35 miles and climbed over 12,000ft - just 13 miles and 5,000ft left to do within the time of 24 hours.  Our job as pack horses, or for those of you following The Tour - domestiques, was to carry up the necessaries and take down the empties.  The second extra is Keith on the right approaching Greendale Bridge with Joss Naylor MBE and his support crew, including Ian, on the last leg - job done.  Joss usually heads up to Middle Fell to bring home the contenders, I took tea with him earlier in the day after he got back from his first run of the day!  Not bad for an octogenarian.  Next stop the pub for beer and food : )
