Baskett Slough, Day Three

We had no idea of this. This trail is named in memory of Richard Guadagno, who died on September 11, 2001, on flight 93 when it crashed in Pennsylvania. What I did not know is that Guadagno was the manager of the Baskett Slough refuge from 1992-2000. I like the "butterfly effect" theme that goes with this trail sign, how we are all interconnected, how what happens to one, happens to us all. Baskett Slough Refuge is home to the endangered Fender's Blue butterfly. We've been looking for them these hiking days, but we haven't spotted one yet. We do, however, see that we're all connected.
