What is sculpture for?

 
Those of us who dabble in the artistic process will be only too familiar with that question from well-meaning friends and members of the public.
 
They gaze at your latest work then uneasily, almost shiftily ask: “What is it?” What is it for?” “ What does it mean?” or worse “Does it do anything?”
 
 
Well, here is one piece of work I made in the Paolozzi Masterclass many years ago that now doubles as a hat-stand.
 

Reckon it ticks several of the above boxes. Not sure what the art aficionados would say.
