Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2016 Thursday -- New Headboard

We have just gotten an antique headboard for our queen-size bed. It was made in Italy (and comes with an interesting story). Mr. Fun & I are very excited and pleased to have gotten it. It weighs a bunch (weighs more than we paid for it).

It is actually 2 inches taller than the ceiling in our little beach house. So about 3 inches will need to be trimmed off the bottom of each post, then the posts with the top cones will clear the ceiling.

A professional refinisher is coming this Saturday to get the headboard; he will trim several inches off the bottom of the posts and refinish the headboard. When I first saw the headboard on Craigslist, the photo made it look clean white, but with some definite wear & tear; obviously it is not bright white.

Yesterday getting it on top of my car AND driving back to the coast from Paseo Robles was very stressful. You should have seen the two of us carrying it up the stairs this morning. What an adventure!

Once we got it into the bedroom, I took photos without the top cones and also with the top cones but no posts. Thankfully the cones and the posts both un-screw for ease of moving.

I think I was attracted to this headboard because parts of it resemble a sea shell and other parts the curves in a wave. I know, this sounds crazy!
