King Elfred

I loved Winchester so much when we passed through a couple of weeks ago that when l saw Southern Rail were running a special at £16 for a return day trip l dragooned several friends to come with me and off we went - and what a lovely day we had. I note on the statue that his name is spelt Elfred but now modern day parlance has morphed it into Alfred.
Should you ever get the chance go to Winchester do so, an old, well preserved town that is easily managed in a day and of course has the added advantage of its beautiful cathedral
