US Holiday Day 8
Still in San Francisco
This is in the Japanese garden in the Golden Gate Park. Beautifully laid out area with many Japanese themed items, including a small cafe selling Japanese food and drink. The ponds, pools and bridges have given me ideas about my garden but I suspect the scale might cause problems.
The park had many ameneties but they all cost to go in so we only saw the Japanese area. Even though there was an entry fee it was still crowded, should not have gone on the weekend
The additional shot is of Mrs. Doubtfires house. We found we were crossing Steiner Street on the bus so, on a whim, got off to find the house. We were at about 600 Steiner Street so had to make the choise which way to go. After a bit of mobile Google research we found the house number was 2640 Steiner Street (they do long roads). A very long walk later, including up and down three hills, passing the Painted Ladies ( look them up, very pretty) and stopping in a small coffee shop, we arrived at the house. It has in a residential street, was obviously someones home and had no indication of its fame. The Korean tourists taking pictures confirmed our destination as did the tree outside. The bottom of the tree was surrounded with pebbles with messages written on them to Robin Williams. Rather touching
