Highland Cross charity biathlon (or duathlon), at mile fifteen of the walk or run. There's another five to go, before a thirty(ish) mile cycle. The ~720 participants cross the Highlands, from Morvich in the West, to Beauly in the East. A grand day for it. I was at my usual spot by the bridge at Athnamulloch in Glen Affric, and attempted to give them all some cheer on their arrival at the food and drink stop (behind me), and before the last grueling part of the walk/run course - "affectionately" know as the Yellow Brick Road.
My day's somewhat less challenging, with a five mile walk in, and another on the way back. Lugging a couple of large cameras and lenses, plus food, water, waterproofs, extra layers, and assorted other bits, do make it a bit more of a burden.
A few extras of mostly walkers this year, some of the scenery, and one of a handful of the many good folk that assist in the smooth operation and support for the whole event (they're having a well earned break after the last participant has passed, and before the big clear up). Always a good atmosphere, and good craic (several of the extras failed to load/appear... once again. Some appeared to load and failed to appear, others refused to load. Colossal number of photos, for anyone taking part etc. here.)
