#BBCSaturdayLive on Cromer Pier - Me & JP!
So the very popular (with me anyway) Saturday morning radio 4 show 'Saturday Live' came to Cromer, and we were up bright and early to be there to secure our seats.
Even queuing from 7.45am we were still half way down the pier. But in the glorious sunshine, so we weren't complaining. Then the presenters - Rev Richard Coles, Kate Silverton and JP Devlin wandered along to chat and let us take photos. There was a real buzz in the air. Before long we filed into the theatre and were given a sticker on our ticket, but it wasn't scanned, then told to sit anywhere. We were in the middle, with a really good view. The presenters were on stage (see my facebook pic from earlier today) and there was general jolly banter until the show went on air at 9. Guests, if you weren't listening to the radio, were Chris Foot-Wood (visitor of every pier in the country, and brother of Victoria Wood), Lesley Garratt, Chris Higson, (writer of young James bond) Steve Ignorant of punk group 'Crass' now local lifeboat volunteer, and Bellatrix, world beat box champion and very talented musical artist.
Well I thoroughly enjoyed my morning with radio 4, and I had chats afterwards with several of them as I got autographs. Unfortunately, Lesley Garratt escaped me. I think Mollie enjoyed it too, Henry was a bit bored!
Mollie worked from 12 to 9.30pm, so we left her and went home. I took the dogs out, but it was so hot even Bracken wasn't keen. So we grabbed our beach stuff and went back to the sea where Henry spent the rest of the day in the water. Jon and Dan joined us at 5. They went to Fradley to settle Dan into his room for next year's placement. A good 4 hour drive, so Jon was exhausted when they got back.
Met up with Mollie for a cuppa on the pier, then home for pizza. Computer annoying me. I couldn't get photos from my phone onto my pc. So blipping from my phone, which only lets me upload one photo. The photo I chose? Its me, JP and a bit of pork pie! The loveliest man. But I knew he would be from his voice on the radio - as they all were in actual fact!
A Grand Day Out as Wallace would say.....right on our doorstep. Perhaps this move wasn't such a bad one after all!
