Baby Cedar Waxwing

A few days ago when Arvin and I were taking an evening walk along Scudder Pond, we met a man with a big camera and lens who was aiming at the greenery along the path. It was a Cedar Waxwing nest, right up on the edge of the green in full view of the path. It was built in among branches so there was stuff in the way but we could see three tiny babies in the nest. The fellow said they had just hatched.

Today I went back to photograph them. This is one of the photos I took. You can see the yellow of the mother up in the left corner. I stayed to watch as she flew away and back and fed the three babies in the nest. Here is the large version.
