School's Out
For the summer :-) It couldn't come a moment too soon.
It was kind of nice. I received lots of little gifts from the children. To be honest I'd just prefer a nice card, that mean more than a gift. I took the bottles of Prosecco home.... They are so excited to give their gifts. I prefer to open any gifts without an audience, but for them I make myself open them with them, so that they can see that it's appreciated.
Little Ro brought Little B into school. I don't know why really, the idea popped into my head yesterday. I thought it would be a nice treat, seeing as they see pics of him and listen to my stories every day! He only stayed about 10 minutes, but he was a very good boy! One by one they all got to stroke him, and they were very excited! It was a big day for B- school visit and then a haircut in the afternoon.
I stayed until 3pm. There was much less to do than last year when I switched rooms.
In the evening I went to meet some friends for drinks in the city. We went to a bar in East London. I've been there before and it's not that great, but luckily we snagged a table on the terrace so it was much better. They even threw in some free olives and antipasto. I met a lady who was a lawyer, working for a big company close by. I grilled her with twenty questions about her work life balance, in my eternal quest to forge a new career path.... ;-) She didn't mind, we talked about lots of other things too.
It was a good night, but I left around 10:30pm. And it was a good job too, as even though the journey is really simple, lo and behold, the tube I got on then decided there was a problem on the line and that it was cancelled. So I wasted time waiting for a train that didn't go anywhere, and then had to do the horrible, all-uphill treadmill that is Bank station.. :-( I am so tired, walking through tube stations feels like a marathon these days. I ended up having to go via London Bridge, and then change to get back to Waterloo.
Home at 12:30, so not too bad, but rather long when you consider I left the venue two hours before.
At least it's Saturday tomorrow.
* I took this picture outside Liverpool Street. I love how it's either a way home meal or the prelude to a night of drinking for the after-work crew ;-)
