Aperture on Life

Sunset at Langstone Harbour

Yes, I did go back.
My friend's husband and friends were to join us so we agreed to meet at the Ferryboat Inn for lunch.  Her husband had just recently been treated for cancer and her friend is confined to a wheelchair.  It was lovely to sit and chat to everyone but, after a my excellent lunch, began to get itchy feet.
I'm afraid I'm not good at sitting for hours at a table, so made my apologies and went off with the dogs for a walk.  There was more wind than yesterday and the beaches were packed.  I had started to have misgivings when I found the queues of traffic trying to pass Guildford when I had just joined the A3. However, the nature reserve on the north of the island was relatively people free and the dogs and I walked for a good three hours, stopping off to photograph the wildlife on the way.

I didn't completely abandon the company but the sun was visibly lowering in the sky when I returned to find no visible movement, but a great deal of chatter, from the group.  It was only when the warm breeze turned to distinctly chilly that, despite the rugs, the less able bodied had no option but to retreat. Unfortunately everyone else had made the same decision at the same time.

Having said my goodbyes, I headed once more to the reserve to wait for the sunset and walk a little more.  By the time I left there was little traffic left and the run home would have been a doddle if the car hadn't flashed the oil light.  I only checked it last week!

Home with exhausted dogs, a lighter purse and a healthy car.
