Sorry about the awful iPhone picture. But this evening's concert is worth recording. Jazz pianist Edouard Ferlet and harpsichordist Violaine Cochard met in 2012 when they were both guests on a radio programme to promote their new Bach-related CDs. The host suggested that they do a couple of duets for the show. The result four years on is an album, Plucked Unplucked,  this stage with a piano and a harpsichord side by side, and a talented harpsichordist who now takes jazz improvisation in her stride. Have a listen here. For their encore they were joined by the concert organisers on flute and bongo drum for a highly unusual jam session. The sound engineer deserves some credit too; at times the two instruments sounded like a whole orchestra.

It was a lovely warm evening; the concert was in the Cour de la Madeleine, the beautiful inner courtyard of the town hall in Narbonne. I went on my own but bumped into L and J there, which was nice. I think the music was a bit far out for some people, but I enjoyed it. And it's not every day you get to listen to jazz played on a harpsichord.
