Day 20: Chiang Mai
After a chilled out few days on Koh Phangan, we made out way up to Chiang Mai. Arrived late last night and went pretty much straight to bed.
Lie in this morning followed by another thai cooking lesson! Our teacher took us round the markets first and explained a few things about ingredients and vegetables, some of which were very interesting (especially the fact they call fermented eggs 'horse pee eggs' - you can guess why). Then we went to his kitchen which was gorgeous and completely out in the open. He took us round his garden as he grows most of his own vegetables and herbs. Finally we started cooking - I made coconut milk soup and Nic made hot and sour soup to start, followed by thai green curry and phanang curry, with pad thai and chicken in cashew nuts. For dessert we made banana spring rolls with condensed milk. Needless to say we didn't come anywhere near finishing all of it! But it was unbelievably tasty!
Early night as tomorrow is ziplining!
