A Clockwork Orange

How art thou my brothers?

A horrorshow day, thou day is.

A Clockwork Orange my droogs, is not only the name of the grazzy subway mesto in Glasgow but also a rather oomny book of chepooka of a grahzny molodoy moodge, that I am currently shriking my way through. A right bitva but one I expect to resurrect from oddy knocky and an appy polly oggy no doubt being requested of me.

This is my first attempt at the book and yes I am finding it difficult and have already had numerous discussions on the background, cultural heritage and importance of this piece of literature. I'm not convinced but one thing I have learnt in the past is to never give up on a book, as those that you need to wrestle with are normally the ones that stay with you.

As for the movie, I don't love it by any means but I do respect the film making. The soundtrack on the other hand, which I had blaring earlier while doing my house work is fantastic!

March from a Clockwork Orange

Many claim Burgess invented the term "A Clockwork Orange" to tell a story about Pavlovian or mechanical theory being appied to an organism, like fruit, which is capable of colour and sweetness.

In Malaya (where he taught for 6 years) Orang also means human.

However Burgess claims it is from an old cockney saying "As queer as a clockwork orange".

Who knows! I will give my full opinion once I have finished it!
