A London day today, at Church House, with colleagues from around the country. We spent the day with Joyce Mercer, Professor of Pastoral Care and Practical Theology at Yale Divinity School. And what a day it was. Full of wisdom, insight, research, warmth and generosity. Joyce has much to offer and offers it well. I'm now charging through two books, one by Joyce, Welcoming Children, and one recommended, Play: How it Shapes the Brain, Opens the Imagination, and Invigorates the Soul (Stuart Brown).
