Pleasant Bay
The forecast said "small craft warnings." I put a reef in the main and ventured out. It seemed calm enough, so I shook out the reef. Then bam! Thirty five mile an hour winds from the southeast with dark storm clouds. I had way too much sail up and no way to get it down. I headed for the Chuckanut shore thinking it might lesson the wind. No luck. Finally I was able to round the corner into Pleasant Bay and shelter for the night. Woke to calm winds and clear skies. The sailboat in the background came in shortly after I did. With a deck piled with sails and his jib halyard wrapped three times around his mast spreaders. He also was also glad to be in Pleasant Bay.
