Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge
So there's these three peaks - Pen-y-Ghent; Whernside and Ingleborough. And you can climb them all in the same day, and walk between them. And it's 25 miles and you can do it in 12 hours.
So me and my Dad decided to do it. Quite why still escapes me, but we did. And all the Ribblesdale photos I've been posting the past few months were part of the training.
And we managed it. Within 12 hours, despite some atrocious conditions coming down from Ingleborough, which required some very slow and careful walking. Not too bad for a combined age of 112 (note how I am neatly taking the credit for my father here...)
It wasn't, actually, as dreadful as I thought it might have been. I can quite see how people do it multiple times - the curiosity of what might have happened if the weather hadn't turned against us may start to niggle at one point. But not till my legs recover, which may take a while....
