For the greater part of the morning, grey and heavy water-laden clouds have hung over most parts of Johannesburg, with intermittent falls of rain.
Thunder and lightening in the early hours of the morning also brought hail in many suburbs.
All this and low mercury levels made for a miserable day, with forecasts of it continuing for a few days.
