Kelpies

Sculpture by Andy Scott - dedicated to horses who pulled the barges along the canals. The name Kelpies is a mythical shape changing creature most commonly seen as a horse which lived underwater and used to entice people on to their backs and they stuck to them and were drowned when they submerged. It was commonly used to deter children from going near deep water and most communities near to large , deep stretches of water had their own particular Kelpie stories. We visited today with some Italian family visitors who were mightily impressed. TICK.
