warming up

The Beach to Beacon 10k here in Cape Elizabeth, is on Saturday. I drove the dogs (my mother's dogs) up to the baseball field to throw the ball for them, but it was already occupied by this Kenyan (I assume, judging by his really long legs and his speed) who was warming up, getting ready for the race. The race goes right by our house, which is inspiring and awesome to watch. Some of the best runners in the world come to run the race that ends at the Portland Head Light - and by the time they go by our house, it's downhill, so they will be flying!
This was a pretty scene that I didn't even think about disrupting with panting, pooping, golden doodles. We found somewhere else to run.
