So long and thanks for all the fish
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish is the fourth book of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy 'trilogy' written by Douglas Adams. Its title is the message left by the dolphins when they departed Planet Earth just before it was demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass, as described in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and I felt it was an appropriate farewell message to you all from me.
Had I clung on till November, I would have clocked up 22 years’ service with EDS/HP/HPE but as Bob Dylan said, ‘The Times They Are A Changin’ and I felt we had reached the point of one change too many for me. No regrets, I’ve had 21.75 good years and as others have said, whilst the work will be replaced, the people cannot be. It has been a real and genuine pleasure working with you all and I wish you the very best for the future wherever that may take you.
As for me, I will have 5 weeks off before starting a role as a PMO Lead where I will be working for peanuts but doing what I love best which is helping others to be successful in project and program management. As a friend said, you have a choice, Live to Work or Work to Live; I choose the latter.

The above is the email that I sent to my soon to be former colleagues yesterday. I received some very nice replies. Quite touching really, oh and so the picture makes complete sense, the green letterbox type thing is the company logo. I've included an advertising image in the extras so that you can appreciate the pun.
