PRUNING THE HOLLY TREE

I put some washing out today and realised that the holly tree was blocking out some of the sun so I asked Neil to lop off a few branches. I'm so short that I couldn't reach any of the branches. Neil is 6' 2" tall so he managed to cut quite a few whilst standing on the ground. Then he got stepladders and got to a few higher branches. Shame to cut off a lot of the newly formed berries but the tree did need a bit of a tidy up. Still plenty berries left to ripen for the blackbirds who love them.

Not much else happening today but there is one piece of sad news to report. A 46 year old man who lived 2 doors away from me was murdered at the weekend. He was a landlord and had called on one of his tenants in the Gateshead area and the tenant had stabbed him to death. I didn't know the murdered man but had seen him about. Tragic - especially as he and his wife had a young baby.
