Sunny forecast so I dived across town for G and we headed off to meet erstwhile colleague at Yellowcraigs; we duly hooked up; me with an 11, a 9 and a 5 y.o She weighed in with a nearly 3 y.o., a 9 month old and a dog. More than enough to keep us occupied.
After the briefest of plays in the play park, we hit the beach; properly sunny it was.
We found a sheltered spot and set up camp; G dragged Maddie (the dog) into the sea and splashed around; the boys ate hurriedly before joining in.
Cian looked on, a little confused before slowly heading off to see what all the fuss was.
And so it went on - paddling, sand castles, football, Frisbee, dog chasing, eating, sun screen application.
In between, Val and I caught up in the past 6 months since we last met up (Gosford if I remember rightly) and as Cian faded we too headed homeward. She was there; Bolognese ready to cook.
G went to her gymnastics class at 6; me an her had our own dinner whilst the boys watched TV; then all out at 8.30 to Ainslie Park to chum her to get G from her class.
Then the quickest of cycles home down the hill and everyone smiling and tired into bed.
Alex gets to play the all too rare role of a big brother to Cian
