FLOWER FRIDAY

Meet the three new members of our garden family.

At the top left, dressed in deep pink and looking beautiful against the dark blue fence is Madame Julia Corevon, who immediately caught our eye when we saw her at the garden centre yesterday.  She was a bargain so we just had to have her.  Madame was with us some years ago, but decided that our garden wasn’t suitable for her, so went elsewhere but we are hoping that she will beautify our garden from mid to late summer.

Then below her is Blue Angel - again looking very beautiful against our darker blue fence and I think her position will eventually be there because they go so well together;  hopefully, she will go on producing these beautiful pale powder blue flowers with crinkled edges from early summer to late autumn.

And then on the right is Margaret Hunt - with lavender to mauve-pink flowers, not as bright or as showy as Madame Julia but just as pretty, we think.  These two should go together very well against the grey wall, which will be their position when Mr. HCB plants them all later.  As Margaret blooms from early summer into autumn, hopefully she won’t clash too much with Madame.

Originally, I was only going to buy one, but as they were all half price in the sale it seemed a shame not to buy all three - so we did.  Mr. HCB is pleased it rained overnight to make the soil damp enough for planting, before he goes off to cricket at Bristol with Son Number 1 this evening so I hope the drizzle has stopped well before then.

The garden is looking good at the moment, and the gentle rain has helped, much better than artificial watering, even if that water does come out of our water butt.

     It's for joy.”
