A spiky thistle

I don't think I have seen this variety of what I assume is a thistle spotted in the gardens in Exeter this morning before I had my hair cut. There was a lady next to me who was having her very long tresses cut short. I would have liked to have stayed to see the transformation. She was told it was a restyle and not just a cut and blow dry.
