Postnominals

I used to have them on my business card but that's because they were important in the context in which I worked. Not within the university - most folk have doctorates - but with external partners. Other than that I don't often see them written down but there is one notable exception. 

In addition to being employed by the Open University I am also an OU graduate (twice) so each year I get a begging letter, as an alumnus, asking for a donation. This is the only post I get which uses the bits and bobs.
